Osteopathy and Massage Clinic, Etobicoke, Toronto, Canada, Manual Lymphatic Drainage

We now offer new massage services at our clinic:

  • Manual Lymphatic Drainage
  • Anti-Aging Facial Massage

Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) encourages lymph flow and reduces certain types of swelling. The lymph system is largely a passive one and depends on contractions of the smooth muscle cells in the walls of lymph vessels and the movement of skeletal muscles to move lymph through the vessels to lymph nodes and then beyond the lymph nodes to the lymph ducts which return lymph to the cardiovascular system. Massage Therapists use light, repetitive techniques to pump the lymphatic fluid through the lymphatic capillaries. The slow, rhythmic nature of these techniques also decreases pain perception and the effects of the sympathetic nervous system. Manual lymphatic drainage can be used for treatment of the following conditions:

  • Rheumatic conditions
  • Cosmetic disorders (acne, rosacea, scars, stretch marks)
  • Surgical/Trauma-related disorders such as acute whiplash, burns, keloids, traumatic and post-surgical edema
  • Gynecological disorders such as mastodynia (breast pain), lactation disorders and menstrual cramps
  • Sleep and Mood disorders

Anti-Aging Facial Massage – Does the skin on your face appear puffy or loose? Anti-Aging Facial Massage could be just what you need to strengthen and firm your skin. Our Registered Massage Therapists use a combination of different techniques to enhance the appearance of your skin. The treatment begins with the application of Manual Lymphatic Drainage to your neck and face. The purpose of this is to move fluid out of the tissue into the lymph nodes where all toxins and viruses are destroyed. This effectively reduces swelling of the face and puffiness under the eyes. The second part of the massage focuses on firming sagging areas by improving muscle tone and breaking up fascial restrictions and muscle tension, focusing on each individual wrinkle.
